The Birthday Party

We had a family birthday party for Ainsley on Sunday.

Here are the girls in their "party dresses."  For Cecily, party dresses are a MUST!

The girls hanging out before the guests came.

Pink and purple were the colors of choice.

Cec helped Daddy put balloons all over the house.

I've decided that my talent does not lie in cake decorating.  I have good intentions, but what I imagine in my head is DEFINITELY not how the finished product looks!

CAKE TIME!

Applauding the latest horrid rendition of the Happy Birthday song.  My family likes to compete for the worst sounding version of the song.  It sounds lovely, I tell ya!
Blowing out the candle.
The first taste...
Grandma and Papa Tornow
I think the kids were the most excited to get a taste of the pink mess...

Auntie Jana (my cool sis who came even though she felt like crud--THANKS!)
It may look "interesting," but it was YUMMY!  Strawberry cake from scratch with homemade strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting.
Ainsley's enjoying it, and being quite neat about it as well.

Cousin Amelia, the Irish dancer
Come on, do you REALLY think a 1-year-old can use a fork?
Ooooh!  This is fun!
Let's get a little messy!

Let's get EVERYONE a little messy!
Did I mention this was fun?

All cleaned up and pretty again!  Time to go bug cousin Andrew!

Present time!

Now I'm pooped!  Time for bed!

Our Snowy Weekend at Timber Lakes

This last weekend, we went to Timber Lakes (just outside of Heber) with some friends of ours who invited us to their cabin there.  We had never been to Timber Lakes before, and I have to say, it is the PERFECT setting for a cabin.  It was so beautiful there, and it snowed the night we went up, so it made for great snowmobiling and sledding!

The kids all played together well.  Here they are all ready to go out.

Here's D-Rock getting ready to pull the kids on the sled.

Cecily thought it was fun to be pulled by the 4-Wheeler...

at first.

Now she's not so sure!

Here's baby Ainsley.

Thanks to Fran and Rebecca for the fun, fun weekend!  We can't wait for the extreme pool rematch.  I'll try not to knock myself out next time!

I'm not EATING the poop!

As we're driving in our car today, baby Ainsley has a poopy diaper.  And I have the following conversation with Cec.  (Boy, does she think I'm dumb)

Cecily:  Mom, Ains is stinky!
Me:  I know, honey.  We need to change her diaper.
Cecily:  I can really smell it!
Me:  Yeah.  Is it making you sick?

-pause-

Cecily:  No...  I'm not EATING it.

Ainsley is One!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE AINSLEY!

We can't believe you are already 1 year old!  This year has flown by, and you have been such a fun addition to our family.  Some of our favorite things about you:

*Your mimicking-  You copy words, noises, movements, everything!
*Your Wave-  You just hold your arm straight out in the air.
*Your giggling-  Especially when it sounds like a crazy duck.
*Your Growling-  You've been doing it since I can remember.
*Your gigantic grin-  It is so contagious!
*Getting you out of bed-  Your head pops up as soon as we walk in, and you have your big grin on your face and give us your silly wave.
*How you love your sister-  I hope you two are as crazy about each other in 15 years!
*Your fast crawl (and complete lack of desire to walk)
*That you already have good manners (you say "thank you" without being prompted)
*Your blue eyes-  SO BLUE!
*The way you play with your sister-  I don't think two girls have ever been sweeter.
*Your cuddles-  LOVE 'EM!
*Your happy temper-  You make life as a mom so enjoyable!

I took the girls to get their pictures done at Kiddie Kandids.  Normally, I am not a fan of the place, but I think we actually got some decent pictures this time!  (Or maybe my girls are just so stinking cute, you couldn't mess it up!  :))
